The following shows a comparison of the time series of monthly mean tropical (40N to 40S) rainfall anomalies over a) land, b) ocean, and c) both land and ocean from GPCP and CMAP. The data have been smoothed using a 25 month running mean filter to remove short-term variability including seasonal variations.
