Use of ARM Mobile Facility (AMF) Data to Study Aerosol Indirect Effects in China

ABSTRACT
Aerosols in China have exceptionally high loading and diverse properties whose influence has been detected across the Pacific Rim. The rapid pace of changes in the atmospheric environment over China provides a natural testbed for identifying and quantifying the climatic effects of aerosols. Preliminary analyses of multiple satellite datasets (Aqua, CloudSat, TRMM) indicate complex and unique aerosol indirect effects just off the coast of SE China. Following our previous proposal concerning the use of DOE's ARM Climate Research Facility (ACRF), the ARM Mobile Facility (AMF) and ARM Ancillary Facility (AAF) will be deployed in China in 2008.
